Am I Just Plain Stupid?
Quite often i find myself crying over absolutely nothing amp think that everyone would be better off without me. Personally, i think i have depression and ive told my mum but she doesnt believe me cause im only . If i ever discuss it with her she just calls me pathetic or stupid. Shes always putting me down and it seems that no one really cares about me. Am i just being stupid?

You are certainly not being stupid. Teenagers are at least as likely to suffer depression as anybody else, and depression is very common so youre not quotweirdquot or quotbrokenquot in any way because of it. Dont be too hard on your mum, though, because most people who havent suffered depression dont really know much about it and none of us gets much preparation for being a parent, and its not easy working it out as you go along.brbrIt is really important that you get help for this. Its almost certainly not true that nobody cares about you, and even if it were true it would only be because they dont know you yet. Its hard to deal with this on your own, though, because its your own mind thats playing tricks on you. Be careful of chemical solutions, but do find somebody who understands depression that you can trust and talk to through your family doctor if necessary. Youre old enough to override your mum on this if you need to, and it sounds as if you do.
